NOTICE Weed Cutting and Destruction of Noxious Weeds
N O T I C E
The Village of West Salem
Weed and Grass Cutting and
Destruction of Noxious Weeds
Due to the free enterprise system, the Village of West Salem does not wish to compete with private operators by contracting for weed/grass cutting on private property; however, the Village of West Salem does require the cutting of noxious weeds and domestic grasses before they reach 8 inches in height. It is mandatory that if you cannot cut your own vegetation, that you contract private individuals to do the work. If, however, it becomes necessary for the Village to cut the vegetation on your property, the cost will be considerably higher than private estimates. The Village’s intent is to not be in the grass and weed cutting business except where it directly involves Village- owned property.
WISCONSIN STATUTES 23.235 and 66.0407
NOTICE TO CONTROL NOXIOUS WEEDS AND TALL GRASSES
Notice is hereby given to each person who owns, occupies, or controls land in the Village of West Salem, County of La Crosse, State of Wisconsin, to destroy all noxious weeds on such property before the plant blooms. Noxious weeds are defined as physically harmful plants, such as poison ivy. Weeds are defined as plants of no value, such as creeping Charlie, that tend to choke out more desirable plants.
THIS IS TO ADVISE YOU THAT ON ALL PROPERTY THAT HAS TO BE CUT BY THE VILLAGE OF WEST SALEM, THERE WILL BE A MINIMUM CHARGE OF $100.00 OR $100.00 PER HOUR BY THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT.
Thank you for your cooperation.
